TERMS & CONDITIONS

The art collection of the Chrysalis Collection is being auctioned at the Goddard Centre, Tauranga CBD.  There will be a live auction of 14 artworks
and three groups of silent auctions of the remaining 26 artworks. This auction is subject to the terms and conditions listed below. 
All lots are available for viewing 4-7pm Thursday 5 November 2020, Goddard Centre, Tauranga CBD and from 5pm Friday 6 November 2020 prior to auction commencement at 6pm.

BIDDING

There will be no telephone or live online bidding. You are able to bid using the following two methods:

1. Bidding in the Room

To bid at the auction you will need to register for a registration number either via online registration at 

www.chrysaliscollection.co.nz or at the Registration Desk,  either during the Exhibition on 4-7pm Thursday  5 November 2020 or on Auction day from 5pm-5.45pm Friday 6 November 2020.

Your registration number will be available for pickup at the Registration Desk from 5pm Friday 6 November 2020

Please bid clearly and promptly using your registration number.

2. Absentee Bidding

If you are unable to attend the auction, Chrysalis Collection can bid on your behalf according to your written instructions.

You may make an absentee bid by emailing the form attached to the auction catalogue or completing the form at the Registration Desk during the Exhibition. 

Our absentee bid form requires you to enter the lot numbers you wish to bid on and your maximum bid.

Please check lot numbers and description. In the event of identical bids, the earliest will take precedence.

The limit you leave should be the amount to which you would bid if you were to attend the Sale. Lots will be purchased for you as reasonably as
possible, subject to other bids in the room and to reserves.

To guarantee receipt and registration, these must be submitted to Chrysalis Collection before midday Friday 6 November 2020.

3. Buyer’s Premium

There is no buyer’s premium in this auction

CONDITIONS OF SALE

1.  The highest bidder shall be the buyer, and if during the auction the auctioneer considers that a dispute has arisen, the lot so in 

dispute shall be immediately put up again for sale.

2. The auctioneer has the right to 

     1. refuse any bid, 

     2. advance the bidding at his absolute discretion,

     3. place a reserve on any lot,

     4. place a bid or bids on behalf of the seller,

     5. withdraw any lot from sale.

3.  The buyer shall advise their bidder number to the auctioneer.

4. The auctioneer acts as the agent of the seller and neither he nor the seller shall be responsible for any defects or faults in any lot or for any errors of description or for genuineness or authenticity of any lot and no compensation shall be paid in respect of same. 

The lots are sold in ‘as is’ condition and it is up to the buyer to satisfy themselves as to the condition of an item before the auction.  The seller does not make or give any representation or warranty.

5.  Each lot shall be paid for at the Registration & Payments Desk on the evening of the auction. No lot can be taken away until it is paid for in full.

PAYMENT AND COLLECTION OF ARTWORKS

1.  Payment for purchase is due on the night of the auction Friday 6 November 2020 by online banking.

We will accept payments on the night to the following bank account:

• Chrysalis Collection  12-3238-0030756-00.

• Please include Surname, Registration number and Lot numbers with all payments.

2 . Collection of Artworks: Artworks are available for collection from the Registration and Payments Desk upon proof of online payment and receipt of cleared funds. If payment requires overnight processing, artworks may be collected on 11am-1pm Saturday 7 October 2020 from the Registration and Payments Desk, Goddard Centre, Tauranga CBD or by private arrangement.

Zephyr 6, Whangaparapara, Great Barrier Island, 2011  was painted by Richard Smith, a Tauranga local who has been painting full-time since 2001, with influences ranging from US artist Edward Hopper to NZ artist Peter McIntyre.

Decisions by abstract artist, Doreen McNeill, is a bright pop of colour!  Now 91, Doreen continues to paint with passion, gusto and skill as seen by her selection as a finalist in the 2020 Miles Art Awards.

La Moana (Ocean Current) 1974 by Elizabeth Kyle Grainger is one of the older works in our collection. In the 1970s, Grainger, of European descent, was inspired by Māori traditions and created paintings that referenced Māori motifs and iconography
Our members have loved hanging Peter Cramond’s figurative work ‘The Fisherman’s Story’ in their homes and it was a popular work at our 2019 exhibition.
